In 1957, brothers Robert Shirley "Bob", Jack Kirby and Norman Edward Wilson founded Wilson Brothers MFG. Co. The company started making bows designed by Bob Wilson with the name Black Widow. Bob, as a designer with the help of his nephew Howard, created the first characteristic shape of the bow. To this day the profile has not changed. Farmer Ken Beck, an enthusiastic archer, bought the company in 1976 after the rise in popularity of compound bows led to the decline of the Wilson Brothers traditional bow making company Despite a crisis in the traditional bow making industry the company still survives today – thanks to Becks intervention. Although he tried various computer analyses to try to improve the profile of Bob Wilson's original profile, he didn't succeed .... just through his experience of archery Bob had managed to create something as unique as the Black Widow profile. At that time he and his brothers were top class archers and their cooperation and, in particular feel for archery bows, gave them their uniqueness and quality. The rest is history ....

AX 100 a AX 101 60"
Alex Bow offers the unique opportunity to touch history with the 60" AX 100 and AX 101 models which are made in the exact shape of the Black Widow profile – a profile whose concept has not changed since 1957. The eleborate riser handle, a combination of exotic woods, gives these models a unique character and an exclusive look. You can choose either the STANDARD or SEMI HIGH handle profile. Every handle has a thumb locator which provides exactly the same grip shot on shot, thus guaranteeing total accuracy. A SHELF radius of 45 degrees incline and peak radius curves in the central position of the hand pressure point on the handle give a perfect supporting point for the start of arrows. The central line of the handle is rotated by 12 degrees - perfect for the anatomical requirements of the wrist of the holding hand. This gives an excellent sense of grip and puts the forearm into the optimal position – and, mainly, produces perfect limb line and forearm pressure. The bows are made CENTER shot i.e.. The central line of the bow and arrow are positioned as close as possible. This partly eliminates the archery paradox and ,in particular, places less demands on the resultant spine.

On request bows can be tillered with both classic grip or grip for three fingers under the arrow. Test results at 52lbs draw weight and 9 grains/lb ... 191 fps on release.
